eBay Explained: eBay Motor Pro

Classified Ads have now come to eBay.co.uk with the birth of eBay Motor Pro. Introduced recently for registered business sellers on eBay, this new listing format is ideal for motor dealers with a large inventory of stock to sell, or to offer vehicles which do not fit into the regular auction or buy it now format.

Initially, eBay Motors Pro is offering a two month no risk trial which will be appealing to most dealers, giving them the chance to determine if the package is right for them. What makes classified ads different from every other eBay selling format, is that any sale is generated offline and away from eBay. Interested parties email the dealer about the car and are then free to exchange contact details.

In fact, eBay sells the opportunity as a way to "advertise your cars for sale on eBay Motors, and generate multiple leads to your showroom." This is a first for eBay, who have previously made it mandatory to complete any sales within the eBay group of sites.

Perhaps this move, is an admission by eBay that a growing percentage of cars sales which are initially listed on eBay, are now completed away from the auction site. Such sales have and continually deprive eBay of any final sales fees which they would normally be entitled to.

All classified ads appear within normal eBay search results, so dealers should have no trouble gaining exposure for their additional vehicle listings.

eBay Motor Pro, appears to offer a genuine alterative to dealers having their own website. Only in the coming months will we see if eBay Motor Pro will work for dealers and increase eBays market share further away from competitors such as AutoTrader and Yahoo.
